In 1990, James L. Odom had a vision. After working with other produce wholesalers for over twenty years, he had come to love the business. Despite the long hours and uncertainties of the industry, Jim decided to take a gamble and start his own company.

What followed is a classic story of dedication and success that ultimately involved the entire Odom family and led to the creation of J & M Produce Sales, the largest in Fort Worth, Texas.

Jim began J & M Produce Sales, in a small warehouse slot in the old Henderson area of the Fort Worth market. His small four person crew delivered fresh fruits and vegetables from the back of an old Bobtail truck to wholesalers around the area, starting well before dawn each morning and working late into the afternoon. In spite of overwhelming odds, the four person business flourished. Jim brought his customers a spirit of hands-on commitment and honest dealing. An ever-increasing customer base and larger orders soon followed.
The new enterprise continued to grow. Together, they set out to build on the early success of J & M Produce Sales and create a legacy that would define the standard for service and trade reputation for the Fort Worth area for many years to come.

Over fifteen years later, there is no question that they have been immensely successful. The J & M Produce Sales story is one of innovation and excellence. As the years passed, the company consistently captured a larger share of the competitive local market. The Odom family and their team worked tirelessly to provide their customers with the finest quality produce and services at a fair price, and soon developed a reputation for being the purveyor of choice to the area’s wholesalers and produce shippers nation wide.
In this day of multi-national corporations, J & M Produce Sales is still a family owned business with each of the Odom members taking an active role in day-to-day operations. An experienced management and sales team supplements the direct involvement of the principals. This gives our clients the benefits of a stable and well-organized operation that is able to embrace the opportunities and challenges of continued growth while retaining an emphasis on sound business practices and personalized customer service.

Fifteen years have seen a lot of changes. J & M Produce Sales now employs over 70 people, a far cry from a four person and a truck in a cramped warehouse. The entire staff is dedicated to the ultimate success of J & M Produce Sales and its clientele.

The team at J & M Produce Sales are on call around the clock, allowing purchasing managers to speak with someone in person in the event of questions or special requests. J & M Produce Sales owns and operates a fleet of 10-plus refrigerated trucks, with a delivery area encompassing Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and New Mexico.

Our new multi-million dollar warehouse facility is unrivaled in the metropolitan area, and provides the company with the ability to expand in order to keep pace with the needs of its customers well into the next decade.
